My first semester in college

In this activity, I want to you reflect back on your first semester at LaGuardia as a freshman. Be as honest as possible in your responses.

1. I came to college because…
I wanted to have a full & complete education, also because I just didn't want to go staright to work, I know I have much more to learn before I'm ready to move on.
2. The best experience I’ve had in college so far is…
Was meeting all the nice people, whether they were students or falculty I know I have met some people I will never forget. & they have also taught me things I will never forget.
3. The most challenging experience I’ve had in college is…
All of the Essays, they can be challenging & I'm not the best writer in the world when it comes to essays, I was really pushed to my limits. But I'm happy because it helped me to manage my time better.
4. This semester, my greatest accomplishment has been…
Getting an A in almost all of my Essays in my English 101 class, unfortunately my first Essay got a B -.-
5. If I could do one thing differently, I would…
Make sure I hand everything in on time, unfortunately some of my grades suffered because I turned things in late.
6. Next semester, I would like to…
Pass all my classes with flying colors, get the grades that I know I deserve & could get.
7. My best piece of advice for college freshmen is…
Never slack my friends, always do your work ahead of time. You might think it'll be easy to do it in the last minute but the stress really isn't worth it.

Time Management

How do you know…
• what homework to do?
• when to prepare for tests?
• what classes to attend?
• what instructor conferences to go to?
• How do you track what you need to do in other roles, such as your social or work life?

They way that I know all these things is I check the syllabuses or the website that my teacher has for us to check out in order to find out when to study & when to do HW. As for classes to attend I look at the LaGuardia book for which classes are required for my major. For other things to be honest I just go with the flow, school is really the only thing I plan out and get ready for.

Why do you currently use this approach? How well is your system working (give examples wherever possible)? How do you feel while using this approach to self-management (e.g., stressed, calm, energized, frantic, etc.)?
I use this approach because it is very simple & easy to keep track of. It has been working quite well since I have managed to pass all my midterms and classes. & it has been going well for self-management because I do not feel stressed since I am completely oprganized, I know where to find my work and thing when I need too.

Personal Responsiblity

What did you learn from this discussion about personal responsibility?
I learned that in order to be a good student you have to be willing to take complete responsibility for your actions. You have to be able to handle all things that you are faced with. If you plan accordingly you will not have a problem instead of procrastoning till the last minute & not going to be able to get any of your work done.
